Playrooms
Yellow Room (9 months – 2 years, Ratio 1:3)

Our Toddler room is bright, cosy and homely, providing a suitable atmosphere for young children to develop and learn to their full potential with activities planned for the age and stage of each individual child. We use the Birth to Three document issued by the Scottish Government to observe, record and plan for your child’s development and learning

Parents find it difficult to leave their young children for the first time and we aim to make this parting as easy as possible, therefore we endeavour to keep to the same routine as a baby has at home. A daily sheet is given to parent’s at the end of each session detailing their child’s day at nursery.

Peach Room (2 – 3 years, Ratio 1:5)

This is a bright welcoming room where children are provided with activities that will help develop their natural curiosity and develop new skills. Also in this room we also use the Birth to Three document issued by the Scottish Government to observe, record and plan for your child’s development and learning

Again partnership with parents is extremely important in this room.  Staff are available for discussion when you come to collect your child at the end of the day.

Green Room (3 – 5 years, Ratio 1:8)

The 3-5 years room is resourced with equipment that is designed so that each child can develop to their full potential.  Children are encouraged to use all of the areas within this room e.g. Home Corner, music, art, ICT, construction, small world, story corner, sand/water and manipulative play

Our nursery follows the Curriculum Framework for Children aged 3 – 5 years.  Planned, learning experiences are based on five key areas within this framework covering various topics and individual children’s interests.

Observation, Assessments and records will be used to plan each individual child’s next steps and further developmental learning.

All Play Rooms

All playrooms have a sleep room and if your child requires a sleep during the day he/she is supplied with a bag that contains a blanket and a sheet.  Staff encourage children to become independent and will also assist parents in helping their child become toilet trained. Children in the Green Room participate in the National Toothbrushing Scheme and are assisted with toothbrushing at least once each day.

All playrooms have direct access to toilet/nappy change areas

Outdoor Area

Each playroom has access to an individual, safe, secure outdoor play area which has wetpour safety surfacing. Gardens can only be accessed through the nursery. Children are encouraged to play in the garden throughout all seasons of the year. We have outdoor play equipment and resources for each room which is age appropriate.

All children are regularly taken out for walks in the surrounding areas.  Younger children are taken in triple buggies and the older children use a Walkodile.

Pirate's Island

Staff regularly take the children next door to Pirate's Island indoor activity play centre which is also owned by Maggie Koervers.  This allows the children to particpate in large physical play.
